He then rushes into the next room to gather up supplies, including an assault rifle he finds on a bookshelf. The next few seconds are where we wonder whether this couple is man and wife at all as the man goes from wanting to kiss the woman to smashing her head in literally two seconds later. The man's partner has clearly been bitten by a zombie and sadly, she has already turned. But the game balances two genres well and, when it comes down to the gameplay itself, it manages to stand on its own, even if it's not a game you'll find yourself craving.Four seconds in, that dynamic changes drastically. Zombie survival is fast becoming a standard gaming format in the gaming world - and State of Survival doesn't make it any more welcome, even with the assistance of The Walking Dead. The result is a game where you always feel like there's a reason to keep playing, but you don't feel pressure to do so. But it's also a game that manages the various tasks well, gently nudging players when there's something to do, but not getting in their face. It borrows heavily from the RTS genre and throws in a dash of action to keep players engaged. State of Survival is hardly revolutionary. If you can get past that (and, admittedly, it's tough), there's a lot more to like. If it's a critical part, you'll give up quickly, as the characters in cutscenes are cliches with voice actors who put no effort into the job. Your enjoyment of State of Survival Walking Dead will likely depend on how important story is to you. While this is a survival strategy action game, it feels relatively generic and unimpressive for anyone but the biggest fans of either format, or of the TV show itself.
